Dental implants can be life changing – giving patients back the ability to speak and eat easily, they’re completely natural looking and smile enhancing too.

We always recommend replacing missing or extracted teeth here at Bullsmoor Dental & Aesthetics Clinic, and dental implants are the closest thing to the natural tooth when it comes to replacement. Looking, feeling, and acting just like a natural tooth, implants can repair a broken smile while also helping to protect the health of the jawbone, and preserve the natural facial structure of the patient.

What are dental implants?

There are various different dental implants available, but all are made up of essentially two parts – the titanium peg that is inserted to the jawbone and acts as the new root of the tooth, and the prosthetic tooth/teeth that is held in place on top of it.

How do dental implants differ from other tooth replacement options?

Dental implants are a permanent, fixed solution, unlike other replacement options such as dentures. They can be looked after just as a natural tooth is, and, if taken care of properly, can last a lifetime. They are also the only replacement option available that helps to preserve and protect the health of the jawbone and facial bone structure.

How long does a dental implant treatment take?

Receiving dental implants can take several months, and you should expect to attend multiple appointments. There is normally a gap between the application of the implant and the placement of the prosthetic while we wait for the titanium peg and the jawbone to safely fuse together. During this time, we’ll be able to provide you with a temporary denture or crown.

Will the treatment hurt?

We’ll always be sure to apply anaesthetic to ensure you’re comfortable and pain-free. You may experience some pain and tenderness after the treatment, but this can usually be treated with painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen.

What kind of dental implants are available at Bullsmoor Dental & Aesthetic Clinic?

We can carry out simple implant procedures in-clinic for single tooth dental implants and implant retained dentures. We’re also able to carry out all the preparatory treatment work for the placement of All-On-Four/All-On-Six Same Day Implants and other more complex procedures at the clinic, with the surgical work carried out by a specialist.
