(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /home/bullsmoordentalc/public_html/bullsmoorclinic.co.uk/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114The colour of our teeth can change and darken as we age – some of this is down to simple genetics and the ageing process, but there are plenty of everyday habits and lifestyle factors that can contribute too. This includes treats such as coffee, tea, sports drinks, red wine, and even heavily coloured foods, as well as smoking. With teeth whitening, we can help turn back the hands of time – and your little vices – by reproducing your whitest smile ever.
Teeth whitening treatments use a bleaching agent such as hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide to safely and effectively whiten the teeth, by penetrating the tooth enamel and breaking down any discoloured molecules that may be there.
The exact process of whitening your teeth will depend on which treatment you choose. At Bullsmoor Dental & Aesthetics Clinic, we offer both a combination treatment from Enlighten® Evolution and a take-home treatment from Philips Zoom!
When used under the guidance of a dental professional and using a treatment that comes dentist-approved, teeth whitening treatments do not present any danger to the teeth enamel. There are some treatments available online or in beauty salons that may appear simpler and cheaper but we cannot guarantee the safety or efficacy of these treatments and would always advise against using them.
Your exact results will depend on the shade of your smile at the start of the treatment as well as on the treatment you choose to use to whiten your smile.
Most teeth whitening treatments last anywhere from 3-12 months, depending on which treatment you use and whether and how much coffee, tea, red wine and other staining food and drinks you consume after treatment. However, with regular and affordable top-ups as recommended by your dentist, you shouldn’t need to go through the whole process and cost again.
Teeth whitening should not be painful. Some patients experience some sensitivity when undergoing teeth whitening treatments, but there are sensitive formulas available, so we may be able to avoid or reduce this as much as possible.
