(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /home/bullsmoordentalc/public_html/bullsmoorclinic.co.uk/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114At Bullsmoor Dental & Aesthetics Clinic, we know the importance of good dental hygiene. The bedrock and foundation of all our patients’ overall oral health, and dental hygiene can help prevent tooth decay and gum disease, as well as the need for further treatment such as fillings, crowns, and root canal treatments. With Guided Biofilm Therapy, we’re able to help our patients maintain and preserve their oral hygiene using cutting-edge technology and techniques that are light-years ahead of the competition.
More simply referred to as GBT, Guided Biofilm Therapy is a revolutionary cleaning technique developed in Switzerland that is faster, gentler, and more effective than traditional ‘scale-and-polish’ techniques. Using a vegetable-based dye, clear plaque biofilm is highlighted in every possible hiding place around the teeth and gums. Using AirFlow technology, a water, air and powder jet removes this now-visible biofilm far more effectively than a traditional ‘scale-and-polish’, while also cleaning the tongue and gums – not just the teeth.
GBT offers patients a faster solution to their dental hygiene needs. It is super gentle and uses warmed water, meaning it can be used on sensitive teeth, restorations, crowns, and veneers and it can also reach difficult areas such as orthodontic brackets or tags.
The biggest benefit of GBT is just how effective it is. Removing invisible bacteria from the mouth, this treatment can help prevent tooth decay and gum disease from occurring, while also leaving the teeth looking brighter and the mouth feeling fresher than ever. It also allows us to visualise areas you may need to give more attention to during your home-care routine.
A GBT treatment can help remove staining from the tooth enamel, leaving the teeth looking better and brighter than before, although it will not ‘whiten’ the teeth in the same way that a teeth whitening treatment would.
GBT is super comfortable for the patient and doesn’t cause any pain or discomfort. The shorter ‘active cleaning time’ makes for a better overall patient experience, and it’s so gentle it can even be used on restorations, orthodontics, and sensitive teeth.
